Provenance: The Artist's son

On of the studies shows a Capanne, a traditional hut, made with a chestnut wood frame, built up with straw, many examples of  which Knights would have witnessed in the Italian Campagna. One such Capanne appears in  her  Tate painting Italian Landscape 1921.

Another of the studies shows a back view of the British School at Rome with stairs leading to the artist's accommodation.
